About Us & Shared Use Kitchen

  About

A Midwest Kitchen is a small shared-use commercial kitchen located in the Gladstone Park neighborhood at 5740 N. Milwaukee that is providing baking facilities to small businesses. In 2016, A Midwest Kitchen debuted the "Walk Up Window," featuring local food-products made fresh for our Northwest side neighbors. Open/Close kitchen hours will vary as Food-makers set their "popup" times which the kitchen will announce. Please follow us on our social media and visit our website from time to time to keep tabs on events we may have. We'd love to hear from you too: chicagoamk@gmail.com.

Goals

We'll look to curate Food-makers from the neighborhood, Chicago & the surrounding area and provide them with a commercial kitchen platform to showcase their menu via the Walk Up Window. We seek good-tasting menu items with a focus on ingredients that are local, natural or organic. We seek food-makers with a respect for traditional Midwest fare and who are interested in food history. A food-lover will also be enthusiastic about ethnic and regional foods. Tried & true recipes at the Walk Up Window will never be replaced, and the adoption of  lifestyle food options like plant-based foods, gluten-free, low sugar/low carbohydrate foods, and foods free of FD&C colors have, for many of us, become a routine part of balancing our food choices.

Connect

We wish to connect with our neighbors about food.  Walk, bike or bus to our kitchen. Drive, park and hop out for a quick sweet bite and a hot coffee. If our window ledge is down, we're inside and open.  Often a Popup takes place like it is meant to be:  a spontaneous event sharing what's fresh and ready to eat. So kindly "like & follow" us on social media to keep tabs on upcoming events.  We want to hear from you, and we want to be part of your efforts to support local food-makers & chefs.  If you or someone you know may have a good-tasting menu item, tell us about it.
